Mosquitoes can transmit serious, potentially fatal organisms causing such diseases as encephalitis, dengue fever, malaria and yellow fever. Until a first frost, and generally from April through October, they are a threat to people and can spread disease organisms to livestock, pets and other animals. Beyond transmitting debilitating diseases, the delicate and piercing mosquito attacks and annoys humans, pets and farm animals.
